Hitachi Enters the North American Carrier Market, Appoints Senior Executive

San Jose, California, USA, November 16, 2015 - Hitachi Cable America Inc. (HCA) today announced the formation of the North American Carrier IP Networking Division, headquartered in San Jose, California. Concurrently, the company announced the appointment of the telecom veteran and senior executive, Ali Taslimi, as Senior VP and leader of the newly formed division. Lynne Humenik, President and CEO of HCA said, “We are very excited about entering the North American carrier market and are pleased to have someone of Ali’s distinct background and caliber to lead our Carrier IP Networking Division.”

Hitachi intends to become a leading supplier of Carrier IP Networking products in North America by introducing its flagship APRESIA® product line to this market. Major tier-1 carriers in Japan have been successfully deploying APRESIA for the past two decades to support their growing Ethernet business and mobile backhaul services. “Although the North American carrier market is competitive, we believe that our distinct product features, augmented by high quality, simplicity, scalability, reliability and the world class customer service that is expected of Hitachi, will prove to bring significant value to our customers” Taslimi said. He added, “Hitachi is entering the North American carrier market for the long haul and we are scaling the division to support our ambitions.” The product portfolio includes Layer 2, Layer 3, 1/10/100G fixed and modular Ethernet switches and DWDM Systems. Hitachi is already in discussion with a number of carriers in North America in preparation for lab trails of APRESIA. The product line will be available in the North American market in Q2 of 2016.
