Thermal and Nuclear Power Systems

Hitachi has over 40 years of experience providing equipment to the power generation industry in Canada. This includes over 40 large steam, gas and hydro turbines with an installed capacity of over 8,000 MW and Canada’s first two super-critical power boilers.

Hitachi Canada Ltd. provides complete maintenance services for both Hitachi supplied and other OEM equipment through its global service network. The company’s team of project managers and engineers is supported by a network of service facilities and partners, enabling it to provide complete turnkey solutions, including longterm maintenance and technical support agreements.

Hitachi is committed to developing clean coal technologies and assisting customers to reduce their environmental impact (including CO2 emissions) and as such can offer advanced super-critical power boilers, steam turbine generator sets, FGDs, SCRs, CCS systems, etc. for new plants or retrofit applications in order to meet existing and future generation requirements and environmental legislation.

Control Systems

Leveraging Hitachi’s 40 years of dedicated experience in information and control systems technology and projects, Hitachi Canada Ltd. offers its Canadian customers G-HIACS DCS (distributed control system) hardware and software development tools. The G-HIACS SAFE (pronounced “nu-SAFE”) Functional Safety Controller is the latest generation HIACS DCS developed by Hitachi’s Information and Control System Company (Omika Works). TÜV Rheinland has certified the SAFE DCS as compliant with the requirements of IEC 61508 SIL (Safety Integrity Level) 2 Functional Safety, CSA/UL electrical safety and IEC 61000 electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Hitachi Canadian Industries Ltd. (HCI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. based in Saskatchewan, Canada. HCI is part of the Hitachi Power Systems Group and has 250 employees. Among its many services, HCI provides custom fabrication and welding (wind towers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and large diameter pipe), custom machining and after-sales services (including spare parts manufacturing) to customers in the energy industry.
