Hitachi Transportation & Logistics Solutions - Corporate Brochure

Hitachi provides a variety of transportation and logistics solutions to businesses in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Hitachi Group companies in the transportation and logistics sector include Carter Logistics and Hitachi Transport Systems (America), Inc. Working together and independently, Hitachi’s United States-based transportation and logistics units provide large and small manufacturing and other businesses with unprecedented service, quality, security and reliability when it comes to shipping, handling, storage and inventory and logistics consulting help.

Carter Logistics

Carter Logistics, a strategic partner of Hitachi Transport Systems (America), is a premier logistics provider. Carter started its business in 1983 with just a couple of trucks moving parts from suppliers to various automotive assembly plants. Today, Carter is well known within the automotive industry as a worldclass logistics company setting the bar high for its competitors, and has begun an expansion into additional vertical markets, including consumer products, retail, etc.

In 1993, Carter Logistics developed a business model, the Carter Shared Milk Run Network, which supports manufacturing companies that have implemented lean manufacturing practices – that is, lower inventories, small lot shipments, frequent deliveries, assigned window times, decreased cycle times, improved cash flow and re-capturing of floor space. Indeed, Carter Logistics is the only milk run operator where clients – which include many of the world’s largest manufacturing companies – are able to pool their supply base and plants together into a single logistics network and share in the total cost savings.

Carter Logistics operates from a 100-door, 100,000 square foot logistics center strategically located in Anderson, Indiana. Carter picks up and delivers to suppliers and plants within a 600-mile radius of its Anderson, Indiana facility on its own assets, and can also leverage outside carrier relationships to facilitate pickups and deliveries to complement Carter’s equipment capabilities. Carter also provides the same shared milk run system for multiple clients located in Ontario, Canada and Mexico.
