The Hitachi Eco-Engineering Forum 2011 brought together key U.S. opinion leaders and technological experts, and offered them a viable platform to discuss issues regarding sustainable development of urban communities. The Hitachi Eco-Engineering Forum featured panels organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The Brookings Institution.

The keynote presentation was given by The Honorable Steven Chu, U.S. Secretary of Energy. In the past editions of Hitachi Annual Forum, the event attracted over 200 key opinion leaders from government, academia, non-profit organizations, and the industry.
