Hitachi technologies provide cleaner, more cost-efficient energy
to utility companies serving millions of consumer households.
To use natural resources more effectively, Hitachi has developed
an "Environmental Efficiency" index that measures environmental impact and resource consumption. This product evaluation is used to calculate two measures of efficiency over a product's lifespan. The first measure is the ratio of the product's value to the raw materials used in its production and the amount of waste remaining when it is disposed. The second is the ratio of the product's value to the quantity of greenhouse gases generated during its lifecycle.
Hitachi considers the reduction of global warming, resource
recycling and conservation of ecosystems to be especially important. We strive to reduce our environmental impact throughout the entire product lifecycle from production to final disposal. Our long-term goal to reduce CO2 emissions is to cut 70 million tons in electric power generation by 2025.
