Hitachi Technology on the Track
Hitachi is proud to partner with Team Penske and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves in the Verizon IndyCar Series for the sixth straight year.
This year, as it has in the past, Hitachi will supply components for Chevrolet race engines in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Hitachi's direct fuel injection system is used on the Chevrolet 2.2 liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 race engines found in Team Penske race cars. Hitachi is determined to help maximize Team Penske’s on-track performance during the 2017. In addition to providing advanced technology that positively impacts on-track performance, Hitachi systems are providing improved performance in today’s production automobiles as well.
The competition at the race track and on the street grows stronger every day. As a result, Hitachi strives to continually evolve and develop new automotive technology that provides vehicle manufactures a strategic advantage.
Gasoline Direct Injection is an important technology that enables automakers to comply with fuel economy and emissions requirements while maintaining performance that drivers expect.
In a gasoline direct injection fuel system, fuel is injected immediately into the engine's combustion chamber at high pressure, delivering a more precise, controlled and efficient spray.
Hitachi Automotive Systems has over 10 years of experience partnering with OEMs to optimize direct injection system components including injectors, high pressure pumps, pipes, and fuel rails. The harmony of the system maximizes the benefits of Gasoline Direct Injection for customers. With stringent fuel economy and Euro 6c emissions requirements on the horizon, Hitachi is able to deliver customized direct injection systems that meet customers' specific needs.
Benefits of Gasoline Direct Injection include:
- Increase in engine power
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Decreased emissions
- Complimentary technology to turbocharging and engine downsizing
Hitachi Automotive Systems is a proud technical partner for the Chevrolet Verizon IndyCar series engine. Hitachi’s Gasoline Direct Injection technology has powered Chevrolet to five consecutive IndyCar Manufacturers’ Championships (2012-2016).
