HITACHI HONORED WITH TWO 2008 INNOVATIONS DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AWARDS

-- Hitachi Receives Accolades for Blu-ray camcorder and Ultra Thin Television --

SAN DIEGO – November 19, 2007 – The Consumer Electronics Association announced that Hitachi America, Ltd.’s flagship DZ-BD7HA, a Hybrid Blu-ray model as well as the Ultra Thin 32” LCD HDTV Monitor UT32-MH700B have been honored with the 2008 Innovation Design and Engineering Award.

The DZ-BD7HA camcorder is full of originality as it includes Blu-ray disc recording capabilities and a 30 gigabyte (GB) built-in Hard Disk Drive that can record approximately four hours of 1920 x 1080 high definition video (HX mode) or up to eight hours of 1440 x 1080 high definition video (HS mode). With the simple push of a button, it can copy the contents from HDD to BD within the camcorder itself, a major convenience feature for on-the-go consumers who can now bypass external devices (PCs, etc.) altogether to quickly dub a highlight reel.

The Director’s Series HDTV Monitor features one-of-a-kind screen quality and picture brilliance like no other. Never before has a 32” HDTV Monitor been this thin or this light. Hitachi's exclusive engineering produces a new form factor that is just over one inch thin. These slim, stylish LCDs from Hitachi represent an important new category of product that is being called Ultra Thin Displays. The televisions will be available in the Japan market in December of 2007. U.S. consumers can expect to see Ultra Thin models in early 2008
