HITACHI AMERICA APPOINTS LYNN MCLEAN VICE PRESIDENT OF NORTH AMERICAN SALES FOR SERVER SYSTEMS GROUP

BRISBANE, Calif., Feb. 13, 2007 – Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT) (TOKYO:6501), today announced that it has named former Hewlett Packard executive Lynn McLean as vice president of North American sales for the Hitachi America, Ltd., Server Systems Group (SSG). Ms. McLean will be responsible for leading all direct and indirect sales in North America for SSG.

Ms. McLean, who brings 22 years experience in the IT sector to SSG, joins a division that launched its latest product, Hitachi Blade Symphony with Virtage, in late November 2006. The product began shipping in January 2007.

“Lynn brings both extensive experience and passion that will accelerate our organization’s growth and positive track record with our customers today and tomorrow” said Elizabeth King, vice president and general manager of Hitachi America, SSG. “Lynn’s many successful years of front line sales and sales leadership experience, along with her market expertise and understanding of the needs of the current enterprise data center, provides a valuable addition to our organization as we serve our enterprise customers directly and through the channel.”

Prior to joining Hitachi, Ms. McLean most recently served as the vice president of partner development for the western region of MTM Technologies, where her primary role was to drive product and services sales with MTM’s largest partners in the Western United States, including Hewlett Packard. Ms. McLean also spent more than eight years with Hewlett Packard starting in sales and moving into an executive level post as director of HP’s west services sales team, which represented the breadth of HP services to the enterprise segment of customers. She previously managed the United States Navy division responsible for operating and maintaining one of the Navy’s five worldwide mission critical regional telecommunications facilities based in Stockton, Calif.

Ms. McLean holds a master’s degree in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Marquette University.

In October 2005, Hitachi Ltd. established the server systems business unit in Hitachi America, Ltd., to provide server-based solutions in North America. Hitachi's highly scalable and performance-oriented blade server platform, "Blade Symphony," is part of Hitachi's global IT platform business operation in North America. The unit is responsible for sales and marketing, business development, and operating a comprehensive services and support infrastructure that will serve customers on a 24x7 basis.
