Hitachi Secures New Sales Contracts with New York, Pennsylvania and California State Agencies

NYS and PEPPM Contracts Secured to Meet Increased Need for LCD Projectors in Key Education and Government Verticals

BRISBANE, Calif., http://www.hitachi.us, April 29, 2004 – The Digital Media Division of Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), today announced the addition of a technology contract with New York State (NYS), making its comprehensive line of multimedia projectors available through the state’s website. The contract runs through September 30, 2008, with Troxell Communications as the exclusive regional reseller.

In addition, Hitachi has been awarded the Pennsylvania Educational Purchasing Program for Microcomputers (PEPPM) bids for Pennsylvania and California, enabling Hitachi projectors to be offered directly through the PEPPM website. The PEPPM contract runs through December 31, 2005 and authorized resellers include Troxell Communications and Centre Business.

Both the NYS and PEPPM contracts eliminate the formal bid process from the purchasing effort, allowing government entities such as local agencies and educational institutions to directly purchase Hitachi’s versatile, high performance projectors online. This streamlined process is designed to save time, effort and money, allowing customers to benefit from the convenience, economies of scale and favorable prices of a one-stop shop for all their presentation needs.

“Hitachi has always worked closely with the education and governments sectors to provide them with reliable multimedia products that will advance their respective missions in teaching and serving the public,” said Pete Denes, director of sales for Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division. “We are very pleased that government agencies and schools throughout New York, Pennsylvania and California now have easy and affordable access to Hitachi’s feature-rich presentation technologies, as well as our acclaimed ‘Thank Goodness It’s Hitachi’ (T.G.I.H.) customer service program.”

The T.G.I.H. program reinforces Hitachi’s commitment to delivering reliable premium projectors and offers customers added product assurance as part of the standard warranty for its full line of LCD projectors. Designed to meet today’s diverse presenting needs from classrooms and lecture halls to conference rooms and auditoriums, the Hitachi LCD projector line includes lightweight, cost-effective and multi-purpose projectors as well as more powerful and technologically advanced units with a full range of connectivity options. Hitachi also offers a comprehensive line of accessories to further assist customers in creating flawless presentation environments.
