HTP-MEDS, LLC and Hi-Tech Machine & Fabrication, LLC (Hitachi Group Companies) Earn SHARP award through OSHA’s On-site Consultation Program

Ashaway, Rhode Island, June 9, 2016 -- The companies contacted the Rhode Island Department of Labor (RIDOL) On-site Consultation Program, with the goal of improving our safety programs by using  RIDOL's safety and health experts to evaluate our operations, policies, and procedures.

OSHA's On-site Consultation Program services are separate from enforcement and do not result in penalties or citations. This program offers free, confidential safety and health advice to small and medium-sized businesses in all states across the country and several territories. Consultants from state agencies or universities work with employers to identify workplace hazards, provide advice on compliance with OSHA standards, and assist in establishing injury and illness prevention programs.

During the OSHA on-site visit in September, their consultants issued recommendations for corrections and improvements to be made within a reasonable time frame for completion. Corrections and modifications were made with respect to the policies, procedures, training, etc. in the production areas. Once the improvements were made, a follow up inspection was scheduled. After their follow up inspection, OSHA consultants were pleased with the implementations and improvements that were made.

In March of this year at an award ceremony held on site, both companies were presented with a 2016 “SHARP” award from Federal and State OSHA agencies for their exemplary injury and illness prevention programs and their commitment to the safety and health of their employees. Citations from the local and state government were also presented to each company.

“We are always looking for ways to improve our efforts in health and safety for our employees and our customers.”
