Hitachi Announces New Home Electronics Professional Products Group

-- Hitachi's First Plasma HDTV Monitor for the Consumer Market Among Division's Showcase --

LAS VEGAS, NV, http://www.hitachi.us/tv, January 4, 2001 - Hitachi America, Ltd., announced the creation of a new group within its Home Electronics Division -- Hitachi's Professional Products Group. The new division will focus on the sale of Hitachi's premium consumer electronics products, including the company's first consumer market UltraVision Digital™ Plasma HDTV Monitor, the CMP4120HDUS, to specialty electronics dealers.

Boasting an impressive resolution of 1,024 x 1,024 pixels, exceptional brightness and a 16:9 aspect ratio, Hitachi's CMP4120HDUS provides vivid color and sharp definition, regardless of the input or application. The 42-inch Plasma HDTV monitor is engineered for home theater and computer display with an impressive contrast ratio of 700:1. Weighing only 72 pounds and mountable virtually anywhere, this state-of-the-art HDTV Monitor raises the standard for overall image quality.

In addition to new Plasma HDTV Monitor, the group will specialize in DLPä rear projection TV, CRT rear projection TV and direct view HDTV Monitors as well as other products in the UltraVision and UltraVision Digital lines.

Phil Callahan, who was recently hired as Professional Products Group sales manager, will head the new sales force. Bringing 20 years of management in consumer and professional electronics, Mr. Callahan most recently served as director of Princeton Graphic Systems' Program Development Convergence and HDTV Products.
