Yoshinobu Migita Named President Of Hitachi Computer Products (America), Ltd.

BRISBANE, Calif., April 2, 2001 – Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced the appointment of Yoshinobu Migita as president of its Hitachi Computer Products (America), Ltd. subsidiary based in Norman, Oklahoma. The appointment is effective April 1, 2001.

Mr. Migita, who is currently executive vice president and general manager of the Oklahoma facility, succeeds Mr.Toshiakira Ikeda, who will devote full time to his position as president and CEO of HDSS Holdings Corporation, a position to which he was appointed in October, 2000. HDSS Holdings Corporation is Hitachi’s software, services and solutions businesses in North America.

Mr. Migita graduated from Kumamoto University and joined Hitachi, Ltd. as a mechanical engineer in 1966, and was primarily involved in the Design Department, Production Engineering & Manufacturing department of Hitachi, Ltd. STR (Data Storage & Retrieval Systems Division). Prior to being named executive vice president & general manager of Hitachi Computer Products (America), Oklahoma Division in April, 1997, he was general manager of the Production Engineering & Manufacturing Division in STR since 1995.

Mr. Ikeda joined Hitachi in 1968 and was primarily involved in the company's software operations in engineering, marketing and planning management roles. Prior to being named president of Hitachi Computer Products (America) in April 1999, he was general manager of the Planning Department of the Hitachi Information Systems Division since 1995. Before that, he was general manager of the Information Systems Division, Product Marketing Division since 1988. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in instrumentation from Kobe University.
