LAS VEGAS, http://www.hitachi.us/, June 11, 2001 - Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), today unveiled the CP-S225W, the latest in its line of affordable, micro-portable projectors. Hitachi's CP-S225W is an HDTV-ready SVGA projector designed to provide high-quality video and brightness along with the breadth of features and connectivity options expected in this competitive marketplace.

Weighing just five pounds, this highly versatile projector is exceptionally quiet and features a short-throw lens and minimized light leakage - making the projector an ideal solution for small venues. This model is one of three new Hitachi projectors being unveiled and demonstrated at INFOCOMM 2001 along side Hitachi's entire family of multimedia projectors at Booth #6065 at the Sands Convention Center, June 13 - 15, 2001.

"Hitachi recognizes the need for high-quality, affordable projectors - not only for the education market, but in today's economy, for all budget-conscious consumers," said Pete Denes, national sales manager of Hitachi America, Ltd., Computer Division, Multimedia Presentation Products. "The Hitachi CP-S225W meets this need by providing a solid projector at an affordable price - without sacrificing the features and specifications demanded by today's discerning buyer."

Hitachi's lightweight CP-S225W can be easily transported to various venues and features a short-throw lens, allowing the projector to produce an impressive 60-inch diagonal screen from just five feet away. The CP-S225W produces very little noise, only 36 decibels in full brightness (1100 lumens), and by using the "Whisper Mode," the noise level can be further reduced to 32 decibels with a minimal reduction in brightness (800 lumens). These features, along with an improved lamp cover to minimize light leakage, further strengthen the projector's competitive advantage for small venues.

Hitachi's CP-S225W is HDTV-compatible, enabling high quality video presentations as well as data and computer graphics presentations. The projector also features RGB, component video, composite video and S-Video inputs and can easily switch between modes with the touch of a button. The CP-S225W also features automatic configuration and direct keystone adjustment for additional ease of use. Switchable modes are between 4:3 and 16:9 on the On Screen Menu.

The CP-S225W projector, priced at $4,495, will be available in August through Hitachi's network of nationwide resellers. For more information, or to locate a dealer near you, please call 1-800-HITACHI.
