HITACHI, LTD. ANNOUNCES TADAHIKO ISHIGAKI WILL CONTINUE AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR THE AMERICAS

TARRYTOWN, New York, March 16, 2009 - Hitachi, Ltd., (NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501) today announced that the previously announced appointment of Masao Hisada assuming the role as Hitachi’s chief executive for the Americas, and chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd., effective April 1, 2009, which was announced on February 3, 2009 has changed.  Tadahiko Ishigaki, Hitachi’s current chief executive for the Americas and chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd. will remain in the role, a role he has held since April 2008.

Mr. Ishigaki joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1968. He graduated from Faculty of Business and Commerce, Keio University.
