Hitachi Employee Volunteers Commemorate 9/11

In commemoration of the victims and first responders of 9/11, 25 employees from various Hitachi companies in the southern California area, volunteered to help pack 300,000 meals for those in need.

Coordinated by the Hitachi Southern California Regional Community Action Committee (SCRCAC), this nationwide event brought out a total of 9,972 volunteers who packed over three million meals for individuals and families who are food insecure. In the Los Angeles area alone, close to 1,000 volunteers packed 305,000 meals which were then donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Isabel Valle, a Vantec-Hitachi Transport System employee, said “the 9/11 day was a great experience to be a part of. It was a day for all of us to come together as “One Hitachi” and volunteer to help pack meals for those in need. I am proud to work for a company that takes the time to let their employees be part of such a historic day that we will never forget.”
