Hitachi SCRCAC Sponsors STEM based Ecotour with TreePeople

The Hitachi Southern California Regional Community Action Committee’s (SCRCAC) funding of TreePeople, an environmental nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the urban environment, allowed more than 10,000 K- 5th grade students from the Los Angeles area to participate in the Eco-tour program at the organization’s facility in the Santa Monica mountains. On a STEM based tour through the Magical City Forest, children experience five cycles of nature: the water cycle; the tree cycle; the soil cycle; the air cycle and the resources cycle. They learn about the environmental challenges facing our city and the steps they can take to make a positive impact.
