Hitachi to Donate $270,000 to the American Red Cross To Support Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts

Tarrytown, N.Y. (January 22, 2010) – Hitachi America, Ltd. today announced that Hitachi Group companies in the Americas, will collectively donate $270,000 to the American Red Cross to support Haiti earthquake relief efforts. This includes donations from Hitachi Group companies and The Hitachi Foundation, established by Hitachi, Ltd. in 1985 as an independent nonprofit organization.

In addition to the support pledged by Hitachi, Hitachi employees are also making contributions at their respective companies, which are being matched through employee matching programs on an on-going basis.

“On behalf of all of us within the Hitachi Group, we want to express our heartfelt concern for the people of Haiti. We hope that the donation being made by our Group Companies, The Hitachi Foundation and our employees will provide the necessary aid for the monumental relief efforts necessary to help this community rebuild and for vital supplies to those who have lost so much in this disaster,” said Tadahiko Ishigaki, Chief Executive for the Americas, Hitachi, Ltd. “We express our sincerest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy, and we hope that the contribution we are making aids survivors during the difficult days ahead.”
