Hitachi Provides A Cost-Effective, Compact Solution with Introduction of New Micro-Portable XGA Projector

-- New CP-X275W Projector Brings Added Brightness and Versatility For Mobile Professionals --

Brisbane, Calif., http://www.hitachi.us/, January 7, 2002 - Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), today announced the CP-X275W, the latest micro-portable addition to Hitachi's comprehensive projector offering. Designed for mobile professionals and budget-conscious consumers, Hitachi's CP-X275W weighs only five pounds, and is well-equipped to meet a wide variety of portable presentation needs. The CP-X275W features 1,200 lumens and sharp XGA resolution for a vivid image, and includes component input for added flexibility for video presentations. The CP-X275W is equipped with a short-throw lens, enabling a 60-inch diagonal image from only five feet, ensuring an impressive presentation regardless of the venue. Further enhancing the projector's suitability for small venues is the Whisper Mode, which decreases the operating noise to only 34 decibels, with only a slight decrease in brightness.

"The presentation industry is a continually evolving market, with consumers demanding higher resolution and greater functionality in a compact, lightweight unit," said Pete Denes, director of sales for Hitachi America, Ltd., Computer Division, Multimedia Presentation Products. "Hitachi developed the CP-X275W to meet the needs of mobile professionals, as well as discerning customers who demand an XGA projector in a small footprint."

Hitachi's CP-X275W packs a wealth of features and functionality in a compact unit that is easily transported between locations. With three video inputs, including component, composite and S-video, the CP-X275W provides a high level of connectivity and versatility for ease of use. The component input greatly expands the video options for the projector, as presenters can easily display feeds from DVD players or other home electronics devices. The CP-X275W also accepts HDTV video sources.

The CP-X275W is ideally suited for small venues because of the short-throw lens that comes standard with the projector, and because of the optional Whisper Mode. By utilizing the Whisper Mode, the operating noise is reduced from an already quiet 39 decibels to 34 decibels, with a reduction of only 20% brightness. This feature leads to less distraction from ambient noise, critical in any small venue.

Hitachi's CP-X275W projector, priced at $5,495, will be available in January 2002 through Hitachi's network of nationwide resellers. For more information, or to locate a dealer near you, please visit http://www.hitachi.us/mmpp, or call 1-800-225-1741.
