-- New CP-X430W Combines Excellent Image Quality and Technical Features for a Powerful Presentation Tool --

BRISBANE, Calif., http://www.hitachi.us/, March 25, 2002 - Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), today announced the CP-X430W, one of the newest projectors in Hitachi's extensive multimedia projector offering. Weighing just nine pounds, the CP-X430W possesses the connectivity options and sophisticated features typically found only in larger units, while meeting the requirements of the savviest presenters. The CP-X430W will be demonstrated at NAB 2002 in Booth #L6603 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 8 - 11, 2002.

"As the need for performance and clarity increases in presentation environments, the needs of our customers become more sophisticated," said Pete Denes, director of sales for Hitachi America, Ltd., Computer Division, Multimedia Presentation Products. "Today's customer demands a brighter unit with the high-performance options previously available only in larger models. The CP-X430W is designed to meet this need."

Advanced Product Features

This powerful presentation tool combines 2,500 lumens of brightness and native XGA resolution for bright, vivid images. The projector also features vertical and horizontal keystone correction and a user-programmable start-up screen for flexible installation and a customized look. HDTV capability and anamorphic 16:9 aspect ratio add to the breadth of features packed into this ultra-portable unit. Also new to the CP-X430W is a switchable IR receiver for the remote control, designed to help users avoid interference caused by some high frequency fluorescent lighting.

Exceptional Connectivity

The CP-X430W features extensive connectivity options, including component, composite and S-video inputs; two RGB inputs and one DVI input. By including DVI in this lightweight unit, the projector reaches a new level of technical sophistication, ensuring its compatibility with a wide variety of input sources.

Quiet Operation

The CP-X430W also features Hitachi's Whisper Mode, a standard on all new Hitachi projectors, allowing users to reduce the noise to near-whisper levels, with a minimal reduction in brightness. The CP-X430W operates at 36 decibels in Whisper Mode, reduced from 40 decibels in standard mode.

Priced at $10,995, the CP-X430W is now available through Hitachi's network of nationwide resellers. For more information, or to locate a dealer near you, please visit http://www.hitachi.us/mmpp, or call 1-800-225-1741.
