Singlepoint System's AlarmPoint Automates Notification for Hitachi's Job Management Partner 1

Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT) today announced its partnership for Job Management Partner 1TM, also known as JP1, with Singlepoint Systems, Inc., a premier provider of alarm notification tools.

Hitachi's JP1 is a systems management suite focusing on workload management, which provides companies with the tools they need to automate and manage computer tasks in their distributed UNIX and NT environments. Singlepoint System's AlarmPoint extends the value of JP1 by allowing companies to go one step further in automating their routine processes. When combined with JP1, AlarmPoint allows appropriate personnel to be notified in real time about processing exceptions or events being tracked, and then, gives them the ability to respond remotely, allowing projects momentarily interrupted to be concentrated on once more.

AlarmPoint's two-way communication keeps IT professionals apprised of the latest developments at the data center and allows them to choose which events are critical to respond to from those that are 'nice to know.' AlarmPoint will also automatically monitor the progress of an alert and escalate the notification process based on age and priority of the event, so management has assurance that critical jobs are maintained and kept running smoothly. A log provides information on who is sent a message, when a message is sent, and whether a response is initiated which gives management an additional tool for helping to analyze whether service level commitments are met.

"Hitachi JP1 proactively monitors batch job streams for events that could impact overall production and provides the early warning capabilities necessary to keep the job stream running," said Desi DosSantos, vice president, research and development of Singlepoint. "Tight integration with AlarmPoint sends those warnings immediately to systems administrators and support personnel to maintain optimal performance levels."

Responding to an event or processing error is made easier with complementary features from both JP1 and AlarmPoint. JP1 includes a browser based monitoring tool and remote control capability that allows users to remotely manage and control systems. JP1 also allows users to predefine recovery actions or alternate job processing streams when jobs fail or certain events are detected. AlarmPoint complements JP1 by allowing users to customize their response to notifications using scripts AlarmPoint provides. With JP1 and AlarmPoint capabilities, users can focus on more important business priorities and have assurance that their routine, yet mission critical applications are running smoothly.
