Hitachi America, Ltd. and All American Semiconductor, Inc. Join Forces

BRISBANE, CA

BUSINESS WIRE

Sep 7, 1999 11:38 AM

Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), today announced electronic component distributor All American Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEMI) as an authorized distributor throughout North America for Hitachi's new line of LCD Chassis Monitor(TM) and Plasma Display products.

The new line of Hitachi 15.0-inch and 18.1-inch LCD Chassis Monitor products offer Integrators and Manufacturers an all-in-one, factory optimized LCD display solution that will greatly reduce the design-in process. This innovative approach will allow customers to focus on adding value instead of using valuable engineering resources on designing a display solution from third-party components

"We are extremely pleased to be affiliated with Hitachi, especially with its reputation and commitment to providing leading-edge display solutions. We plan to play a major role in bringing these new products to market," said Bruce Goldberg, president and CEO of All American.

Hitachi America, Ltd. is the first to challenge the traditional LCD component distribution channel with a family of all-in-one chassis monitor(TM) products. In addition, these products offer a solution to those integrators that have been purchasing commercial desktop LCD monitors to strip them apart and utilize the internal components.

All American's flat panel program targets a wide range of markets including industrial, financial, gaming, medical, government, entertainment and kiosk. To meet the tough display performance requirements of these markets, Hitachi's new LCD Chassis Monitor products feature ultra-wide viewing angle, high brightness, high contract, fast response time, and advanced image-processing technologies. All American's experienced team of dedicated flat panel specialists provides the integration services and engineering support needed to meet the technical challenges of these markets.

"We are very excited about the All American Semiconductor partnership as they bring a high degree of market knowledge and strong engineering support which is vital to the growth of the display business," said Motomitsu Sadayasu, vice president of the Computer Division of Hitachi America, Ltd.

In addition to the LCD Chassis Monitor products, All American is authorized to distribute Hitachi's new large-size Plasma display products. The three models are the industry's first 25-inch SXGA plasma monitor with a screen aspect ratio of 5:4, a 41-inch true XGA plasma monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a 42-inch High-Vision compatible (1024x1024) plasma monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio. These products will allow All American to expand their current display offering and give them a strategic advantage over other component distributors.
