Nov 12, 1999 09:15 AM

MORGAN HILL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1999-- Iicon to Add Touchscreen Functionality and Other Specialized Features to Hitachi Industrial Displays

Iicon Corporation, the industrial display solution specialists, today announced an agreement with electronics giant Hitachi America, Ltd., Brisbane, Calif., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) as an authorized value-added system and product integrator of industrial flat panel displays.

The agreement lets Iicon develop and market specialized, integrated design and application enhancements for Hitachi's line of LCD Chassis Monitor active matrix thin-film-transistor (AMTFT) LCD color display products.

Typical value-added operator display designs include industrial-grade housings and enclosures, specialized mounting configurations and touchscreen-based operator control solutions. All Hitachi-based Iicon operator displays are agency approved and designed to meet NEMA compliance.

"Hitachi chose Iicon because of it's well-established industrial display market focus," said Motomitsu Sadayasu, vice president and general manager of the Computer Division of Hitachi America, Ltd. "We found a development and marketing partner that has in-depth knowledge of and a solid reputation in this important and growing segment."

"Hitachi and Iicon went beyond a simple sales relationship to bring our industrial display expertise to Hitachi's great display products," said Robert Steinberg, Iicon president. "This business partnership gives both companies an advantage in bringing advanced flat panel technology to new market areas."
