Hitachi Brings Technology To Life At COMDEX 1999

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, http://www.hitachi.us/, November 15, 1999 -- Underscoring the pervasiveness of Hitachi products throughout all facets of people’s lives, Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Japan (NYSE:HIT), today announced that the company will feature a wide range of technology products and solutions at COMDEX /Fall ’99.

Five theme-based, interactive vignettes, focusing on the Home, Boardroom, i-Business, Online Trading and the application of DVD, will illustrate the personal and professional benefits of Hitachi technology that people have come to rely on. Hitachi’s full-line of world-class solutions can be viewed at Booth L5855.

Hitachi Home Vignette

The Home Electronics Division of Hitachi America, Ltd. will showcase a wide range of consumer electronics products from its UltraVision and UltraVision Digital product lines. Featured in the booth’s Home vignette is Hitachi’s line of high definition TV and digital-ready products, including the recently launched 61-inch fully integrated high definition TV (61HDX98B), the 53-inch rear projection TV (53SDX89B) and the 36-inch direct view tube TV (36SDX88B).

Also highlighted in the booth are two new cutting-edge TV models, the 52LDX99B, a new 52-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) rear projection TV, along with the company's first-ever 42" flat panel plasma display monitor. Utilizing Hitachi’s SuperViewä technology, the display monitors are thinner, lighter, and more space saving. To demonstrate the high-quality picture image of each of these sets, the company will also display its DVD player, DVP250U. Boasting leading-edge audio and visual technology, a range of screen sizes, products and competitive prices, Hitachi TVs provide a premium viewing experience for the home or office.

Hitachi Boardroom Vignette

Hitachi America, Ltd.’s Computer Division will present its superior multimedia presentation solutions in the Boardroom vignette, including Hitachi’s ePlate handheld PCs, M2 family of multimedia recorders, high-end LCD projectors and DVD-RAM products, "the storage of the 21st Century." Hitachi will unveil its latest achievements for the mobile professional, including the never-before seen HPW-700ET, its next generation Windows-CE based tablet-style handheld PC, as well as the new CPX-940W ultra-portable LCD projector.

Hitachi i-Business and Online Trading Vignettes

Hitachi Data Systems will be behind-the-scenes powering both the i-Business and Online Trading vignettes with enterprise solutions that combine server and storage offerings to meet and exceed companies’ high performance needs. Hitachi will demonstrate its enterprise-wide server solutions backed by Hitachi’s unparalleled experience in service and its heritage in robust computing solutions.

Hitachi will also feature the mid-range Hitachi Freedom Storage 5800 family and the enterprise-level 7700E, offering unrivaled performance for use in applications experiencing thousands of transactions per minute and where nearly continuous availability of data is an absolute necessity for business success.

Additionally, Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions will feature its high speed Digital Document Copiers (DDC) and its Digital Document Servers (DDS). Hitachi’s DDCs feature a wealth of productivity-enhancing standard features and options including "Scan Once, Print Many" technology, Trayless Automatic Duplexing and Image Rotation. Hitachi’s DDS line delivers a comprehensive solution for document printing and distribution in high-volume network environments

DVD — Storage for the 21st Century

A special feature of Hitachi’s COMDEX exhibit will be a display of DVD and DVD-related products. DVD, with its ultra-high capacity, is an ideal storage solution for the emerging multimedia world. The ever-increasing storage requirements in the enterprise along with the advent of digital video and movies at home are driving demand for large capacity re-writable storage. Hitachi’s DVD solutions offer a highly reliable format designed with future expandability in mind.

Plasma — Display Technology for the 21st Century

Hitachi will also showcase its Plasma Display Monitors, the next generation of imaging devices that are so slim and lightweight, they are truly a "hang-on-the-wall TV." Featuring leading-edge plasma display technology, Hitachi’s panels offer rich and stunning S-XGA high resolution pictures, full immunity to magnetic fields and a super-slim design that gives big-screen performance in the most limited spaces.
