Hitachi America, Ltd. Launches New SJ-P1 Variable Frequency Drive

Hitachi continues its history of excellence in innovation in industrial inverters.

Tarrytown, New York, November 2, 2017 – Since its inception, Hitachi America, Ltd. (HAL) has always been on the cutting edge of technology and engaged in the continuous improvement of all its products lines. This pursuit has led to the development of one of the world’s most advanced, variable-frequency drives: the Hitachi SJ-P1 Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). The new Hitachi SJ-P1 resides at the point where ease-of-use meets high performance.

The SJ-P1, equipped with sensorless vector control (ND rating), can easily handle heavy loads that require high starting torque at low speed. With a 590Hz maximum operating frequency, the SJ-P1 VFD is perfectly suited for high speed rotation applications, such as metal processing. Other inverters may struggle with trips during acceleration and deceleration events, but the built-in automatic speed adjustment of the SJ-P1 reduces this risk.

The new color TFT display makes it easy to monitor, set, or review operational data and parameters. With the SJ-P1, data-transfer is effortless thanks to a removable operation panel with built-in member. Troubleshooting is also quick and easy with error messages presented in the customer’s spoken language, not codes.

Flexibility has always been a primary benefit of all Hitachi inverters and the SJ-P1 is no different. Hitachi’s SJ-P1 VFD has the ability to control both induction and permanent magnet motors, reducing the need for multiple inverter types. Customers can extend functionality by using easily accessible, slide-in cassettes to enhance integration and performance. Up to 3 optional cassettes can be installed, and include ethernet-based communications, encoder feedback, or safety specific options.

Easy-sequence (EzSQ), Hitachi’s inverter programming software, allows users to quickly and easily develop custom solutions specific to their application.

The SJ-P1 VFD adds a new level of control to a variety of customer applications including, fans, pumps, hydraulic pumps, cranes, lifts, injection molding machines, milling machines and winders.
