HITACHI RAIL ITALY AND ANSALDO STS IN MONTREAL FOR UITP 2017

Montreal (Canada), 15 May 2017 – Technology, innovation and sustainable development. These are just some of the topics at the center of the 60th edition of the UITP Global Public Transport Summit, the world's main fair dedicated to the urban and regional transport, that will be held from 15th to 17th May in Canada, at the Palais de Congres de Montreal.

Hitachi Rail Italy and Ansaldo STS – the Italian companies part of the Hitachi Group since 2015 - will be key players at the international conference with a joint stand, located in Hall 2, where the latest products and research will be presented to customers, institutions, partners and suppliers.

"The exhibition in Montreal – say the Executives of the two companies - is a great opportunity to showcase in Canada our experience and, above all, the new projects in progress. From the success of the fifty Frecciarossa 1000, completed for the Italian high-speed, to the different railway signaling contracts, driverless metros, turnkey solutions, maintenance and full service in Italy and abroad: we have a lot to show to the people who will visit our exhibition area".

The stand will be the place for business meetings, hosting presentations on products and technologies by technicians from both companies. Prominent role of the 2017 edition will be the metros, traditional and driverless, chosen by so many cities in the world: Milan, Rome, Copenhagen, Miami, Honolulu, Taipei, Riyadh and Lima.

Particular attention will be given to "Caravaggio", the new regional train highly innovative in terms of reliability, sustainability and transport capabilities. with which Hitachi Rail Italy has been awarded last year, the largest bid for the regional transportation in Italy.

"A vehicle that has all the features - says Maurizio Manfellotto, CEO of Hitachi Rail Italy - to ensure a difference in quality to the regional transport that allows the train to be preferred to the car, as it is already happening with the high speed. We announced Caravaggio last September at Innotrans in Berlin, we started production in January in our factories, and we take this opportunity to present it to an increasingly "global" level in line with versatility of the product. "

Ansaldo STS, in particular, invites customers and visitors to a real "travel experience", through the driverless metro transport solutions, and presenting the major technological innovations designed for the rail and metro transport (passenger and freight): Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), the leading technology that is revolutionizing the new era of the transit control of the metros and the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) signaling and train control system designed to ensure interoperability beyond the borders (not only in Europe, but also in Asia, Oceania and Middle East).

"Sustainable solutions presented by Ansaldo STS - explains Andy Barr CEO of the company - are a real incentive especially for the American market for the use of public transport, the real subject of the fair, instead of the private one."

The UITP (International Union of Public Transport) is a two-year event. The previous edition was held in Milan in 2015, and has registered 280 exhibitors from 40 countries with 11,000 visitors.
