- HITACHI, LTD. APPOINTS MASAO HISADA CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR THE AMERICAS -
TARRYTOWN, New York, February 3, 2009 - Hitachi, Ltd., (NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501) today announced the appointment of Masao Hisada as chief executive for the Americas, Hitachi, Ltd., and chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd., succeeding Tadahiko Ishigaki, who has been appointed executive vice president and executive officer of Hitachi Plant Technologies, Ltd. The appointments are effective on April 1, 2009.
Currently, Mr. Hisada is vice president and executive officer, deputy general manager of Corporate Marketing Group, and general manager of Global Business Division, Hitachi, Ltd. He also served as general manager of Corporate Procurement Division from 2006-2008. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Hitachi America, Ltd. from 2004-2006 and general manager of Hitachi (China), Ltd. from 2001-2003. From 1991-2001 he served in various sales management positions with the Power Systems and Industrial Systems Group in Japan. Prior to that, he spent time with Hitachi America, Ltd., from 1985-1991. From 1979-1982 he was assigned to the Hitachi Research Institute. He joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1972 working in the International Sales Division. He graduated from Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo.
Mr. Ishigaki has served as senior vice president and executive officer, and chief executive for the Americas, Hitachi, Ltd., and chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd., since April 2008. Prior to his current post he served as senior vice president and executive officer, and chief executive for North America, Hitachi, Ltd., and chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd., since January 2007. He was senior vice president and executive officer, and general manager of the Corporate Marketing Group, Hitachi, Ltd. from 2006-2007. He previously was president & director, Hitachi Home & Life Solutions, Inc. and Vice General Manager of the Consumer Business Group, Hitachi, Ltd. from 2004-2006. From 1993-2004 he served in a number of headquarters-based senior executive marketing positions for Hitachi, Ltd including senior management roles for Hitachi’s consumer electronics businesses, including executive positions at Hitachi Europe. He joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1968. He graduated from Faculty of Business and Commerce, Keio University.
